H.E Ambassador Marcel R. Tibaleka

I welcome you all to the 2nd Uganda-Germany International Business Convention organised by the Uganda German Association in Munich (UGAM e.V) in partnership with the Uganda Embassy in Berlin. The Convention is scheduled to take place in Munich from 15th – 19st September 2020, under the theme “HARNESSING NATURE.”

One of my roles as Uganda’s Ambassador in Germany and the other countries of accreditation is to steer the Embassy to among other things focus on the promotion of commercial diplomacy (trade, inward investment, and tourism through supporting trade missions, establishing and facilitating contacts between business entities) in line with Uganda's Vision 2040 development plan. It was with this in mind that the Embassy agreed to work hand-in-hand with the leadership of UGAM e.V in organising this Convention with the intention of encouraging the Ugandan Diaspora in Germany to actively participate in developing Uganda.

The objectives of the Convention therefore are:
• To promote and Market Uganda as an Investment destination
• To disseminate the country profile on the available investment opportunities.
• To create linkages and relationships between the Germany and Uganda’s Entrepreneurs
• To Promote and market Uganda as one of the best Tourism destination in the world
• To lobby and solicit partnerships between Uganda based business community and the Germany business community

We aim at taking advantage of the location of our Embassy in Germany to source for inputs to primary activities including trade promotion, promotion of FDI, science and technology cooperation, promotion of tourism, and national business community advocacy. Germany has advanced technological capacities that Uganda can benefit from especially in sectors like agricultural business development, raw material value addition, pharmaceuticals, oil industry, service industry, solar energy and manufacturing.

In order to increase market access for Uganda’s goods and services in international markets, we need to negotiate access to high value markets in high income countries like Germany. My Embassy, in this regard, works hand-in-hand with Uganda’s Honorary Consuls and the Ugandan Diaspora in the various countries under its accreditation to strengthen ties, facilitate trade, investment and goodwill between the two sides.
The 1st Uganda-Germany International Business Convention will be graced by the Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah (MP), Deputy Speaker of Parliament of Uganda, as Guest of Speaker and will attract other participants invited from Uganda and Germany who will include key resource persons from a number of Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies to address important topics in line with the promotion of commercial and economic diplomacy and consular issues of concern to the Ugandan Diaspora.
It is therefore my pleasure, on behalf of the Embassy and UGAM e.V, to invite you to attend and actively participate in this Convention.
I encourage you to register via this website (www.ugam-ev.com) using the online link provided. I look forward to welcoming you in Munich in September.
For God and Our Country.

Marcel R. Tibaleka
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
